For this recipe, we used Tortuga Eggnog Bourbon Cake, but you can also use your favorite Tortuga Spirit Cake flavor to create your own delicious combination.
Ingredients
- ½ Tortuga Eggnog Bourbon Cake (or your favorite Tortuga Spirit Cake flavor)
- Treat sticks
- Candy melts (approximately 1 cup)
- Halloween sprinkles
Note: The amount of candy melts needed will depend on the number of cake pops you make and how thickly you coat them.
How to Make Halloween Cake Pops
Step 1: Prepare the Cake Balls
Crumble half of the Tortuga Spirit Cake into a bowl. Using your hands, work the cake until it reaches a dough-like consistency. Squeeze the mixture firmly so it holds together, then shape it into small, evenly sized balls.
Step 2: Melt the Candy Melts
Melt the candy melts until smooth. You can do this in the microwave, heating in short intervals and stirring between each one, or use a double boiler. Avoid overheating the candy melts.
Step 3: Attach the Treat Sticks
Dip the tip of each treat stick into the melted candy melts, then insert it into the center of a cake ball. The melted coating acts as an adhesive, helping secure the stick in place.
Step 4: Refrigerate
Place the cake balls with the sticks inserted in the refrigerator for 5 -10 minutes to allow the coating around the sticks to set. This helps hold the cake balls securely in place before dipping.
Step 5: Dip in Chocolate
Once the cake pops have chilled, dip each one into the melted candy melts, ensuring it is completely coated. Gently allow any excess coating to drip off before moving on to the next cake pop.
Step 6: Decorate with Halloween Sprinkles
While the coating is still wet, immediately add your Halloween sprinkles, as the candy melts can set quickly.
Place the finished cake pops in a stand or suitable holder and allow the coating to set completely.
