What is the shelf life of a Tortuga Rum Cake?
Our rum cakes are best if consumed within 12 months of purchase. Refrigeration or freezing will prolong shelf life without changing the quality or taste.
Where are Tortuga Rum Cakes made?
We have bakeries in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and the Bahamas. The cakes we ship worldwide through the Miami distribution center come from our Jamaica facility in Kingston.
Do you offer bakery tours?
While we do not offer formal tours, our bakeries in Grand Cayman and the Bahamas have large observation windows to see the cakes being made. The adjacent store offers free cake and rum samples, and a full selection of Tortuga gourmet products and souvenirs. Shore tours in Grand Cayman and Falmouth, Jamaica often stop at the Tortuga rum cake factories, which include gardens with native plants and flowers, family picnic areas and a children's playground.
Where can I find Tortuga Rums?
Currently, Tortuga Rum can be found in Grand Cayman and Tortuga stores in Jamaica and the Bahamas. We are working to reestablish distribution in the United States.
Where can I find Tortuga Rum Cakes locally in the United States?
Numerous gift shops at US airports carry Tortuga Rum Cakes and seasonally you can find them at many major retailers and grocery chains (such as Dillards, Kroger, Publix) as well as independent retailers and gift shops.
What are the serving sizes and calorie counts?
Our 4 oz rum cake serves 1 - 2, but if you don’t want to share, the entire cake is 390 calories. The 16 oz rum cake serves 6 – 8 people with the 1/6 slice at just 260 calories. The 32 oz rum cake serves 12-14 and the 1/12 slice is only 270 calories.
Are your rum cakes gluten-free? What about food allergens ?
Tortuga rum cakes contain wheat, eggs and milk. The Original contains tree nuts (walnuts) and the Coconut contains tree nuts (coconut).
What is the liquor content in Tortuga Rum Cakes?
They contain less than half of 1% alcohol so appropriate for all ages and cultures. If you are feeling tipsy after enjoying our rum cake, you are simply high on our delicious taste of the islands.
Where are your stores located in the islands?
Grand Cayman: There are duty free Tortuga Rum Co. shops on the waterfront as well as stores by the Turtle Farm, the main cake factory on North South Road and the Owen Roberts International Airport.
Jamaica: Falmouth Cruise Pier and Bakery/Store on the Main Road, St James, Montego Bay.
Nassau: Frederick Street, Atlantis Resort and Lynden Pendling International Airport.
